About

The AI for Communication Hub is a multi-phase educational initiative designed to equip STEM students with ethical, professional, and applied AI communication skills. Specifically, the project is designed to equip students in Biological and Agricultural Engineering Technology (BAET), Biological and Agricultural Engineering (BAE), and other STEM disciplines with essential AI literacy, ethical communication competencies, and hands-on experience using emerging AI tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, and domain-specific AI applications in agriculture and engineering. The program emphasizes responsible AI use, communication excellence, and research -ready assessment through pre/post surveys and artifact analysis. The AI for Communication Hub presents:

- A 2 half-day workshops (March 20 & March 27)
- A 4-week AI Creator Challenge (4-6 weeks)
- A final student symposium (April 16)

The pilot program in Biological and Agricultural Engineering spans from January to June 2026. The 3-Part event series will host workshops, an AI Creator Challenge, and a symposium. The overarching goal of the AI for Communication Hub is to (1) build AI literacy for research and communication; (2) train students in ethical and professional AI use; (3) demonstrate applied AI practices across STEM domains; (4) generate low-burden, publishable educational data, and (5) produce portfolio-ready student work.

This event is in-person and targeted at a research-integrated workshop designed for undergraduate and graduate STEM students, with a maximum capacity of 50 participants, offered free of charge with lunch provided.

This pilot program aligns strongly with CHASS’s mission to advance experiential learning, deepen student engagement, and expand equitable access to transformative educational experiences. By integrating communication expertise with engineering and agricultural innovation, the project prepares STEM students to responsibly use AI while effectively communicating their work to professional, public, and interdisciplinary audiences.
